150th Celebrations approaching

The University of Otago was established in 1869 and started classes in 1871; its roll has grown from an initial 81 students to over 20,000 today. This talk will outline

some of the key events and changes through the university’s history, with a particular focus on what student life has involved through the years.

Guest speaker: Ali Clarke

 Since completing a PhD in history in 2003 Ali Clarke has worked part-time at the Hocken Collections and part-time as an historian.

She is currently writing a new history of the University of Otago to mark its 150th anniversary
